    M3D Promega 3D Printer Description - 3D Printers Depot

M3D has commissioned the dream printer - a feature-packed, expandable, industrial 3D printer designed for manufacturing, assembly and design operations. Fully enclosed in a 20" all-metal frame, the 15.3"-cubed build volume makes printing just about anything possible. The Promega is reliable, fast and over-engineered to ensure high-quality printing. Using open source software, firmware, and hardware, this 3D printer has innovated its way through to being one of the largest open source printers available on the market.

    M3D Promega 3D Printer Description - 3D Printers Depot

One of the world's leading 3D printer manufacturers and American technology innovator, M3D, launches the PROMEGA: a large, feature-packed, open source 3D printer. Boasting an impressive 15.3”-cubed build size, the printer itself is just 20”-cubed.

    M3D Promega 3D Printer Description - 3D Printers Depot

Included standard with the Promega is an innovative direct-drive dual-extruder & M3D's Compound™ Hot-end (shown top), which improves print quality, speed (up to 2X), space-efficiency and ease-of-use by extruding two materials out of a single nozzle. This is the most versatile configuration and is perfect for printing with two materials requiring similar temperatures and having similar properties (like dual color, or PLA + support material). The alternate optional configuration replaces the compound hotend with Dual Independent K'Tana™ Hotend (shown bottom), and is best suited for printing with materials needing significantly different printing temperatures or properties. Or try both options for $125.

A high-temperature add-on option - removes all PTFE and replaces it with an ultra high-temperature sleeve which allows for day-to-day printing at 350°C and with the potential to reach 420°C which can extrude the widest range of advanced & experimental polymers available, such as PEEK, PC, PTFE, PPS and PEI. For all options, temperature is measured using a professional PT1000 platinum RTD for consistent readings between printers and across a wide temperature range.

Built to exceed the industry's needs, the PROMEGA is the ideal printer. Features may include:

    • Compound Hotend - Input two filaments, extrude from one nozzle
    • Optional: Dual independent (K'Tana) hotends
    • COREXY motion system for powerful & smooth motion
    • Auto-bed leveling using an infrared bed leveling sensor
    • Rigid, 5052 aluminum frame and all-metal parts
    • FlareLine™, our Patent-pending, heated bed using up to 6X less power
    • Comes with a clear PC-enclosed build chamber, suitable for heating up to 60°C
    • Full chamber temperature control up to 80°C
    • Optional: High temperature upgrade - print up to 420°C

    • High Quality Gates Timing Belts
    • Genuine Igus® Drylin® bushings
    • Standard 0.5 mm nozzle, (0.35, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0 add-ons)
    • 0.6 micron microstep resolution (with 1/256 microstepping)
    • 50-750 micron layer resolution
    • Ethernet with built-in Webhost
    • Compatible with any 1.75mm filament
    • Open Duet 3D printer control board, source electronics, firmware and software
    • Optional HEPA filtration system / Back cover add-on

    Open source software
gives you the ultimate flexibility to use the tool suite and plug-ins of your choice to expand upon your PROMEGA 3D printer, bringing you the best resources from across the world in 3D printing. Run the printer in single or compound (dual/mixing) mode, knowing the 32-bit processor can handle your tasks computational demands.

    Open source electronics and firmware
makes repairing, upgrading and modifying the PROMEGA easier and cheaper than ever before. Compatible with reprap nozzles, GT2 belts and pulleys, 15mm extrusions, MGN9 linear rails, Nema 14 and Nema 17 motors, Duet 3D electronics board options to name a few.

Patent-pending FlareLine™ Ecoheat heated bed saves owners 66-83% on heated electrical costs, which is greatest source of power consumption for any 3D printer. Innovative dual-zone functionality creates high-quality prints and gives owners the option to use:
the entire heated bed surface which operates at 1/6 of the power of normal printers
one section which further reduces costs to 1/3 of the normal spend

Factor in additional savings like air conditioning costs and this printer pays for itself with its energy cost savings.

So, what will you get from the Promega?

Start with the direct-drive dual extruder and then choose between M3D’s compound hotend or dual independent hotends. This will allow you to print with various types of filament and work between different filament properties, adjusted to each material’s precise needs. Better yet, get both for an additional $100.

Both options come with a PTFE sleeve that is perfect for handling PLA and any material up to 270’C, like POM, Nylon, HIPS, ABS, PETG, PVA and PVB. Due to its direct-drive setup, printing with flexible filaments on the Promega is possible.

Want to print with PC, PTFE, PPS, PEEK and PEI? The Promega can do that. Get the high-temperature sleeve and print with the widest range of advanced and experimental polymers available. (Each sleeve will be an additional $25 add-on.)

Leverage the power and flexibility of the Promega’s open source build. The software, electronics and firmware are all open source, giving you the ultimate flexibility to use the tool suite and plug-ins of your choice, and to repair and expand your Promega 3D printer how you’d like.

Further, control the Promega printer remotely through your smartphone or other networked tablet or computer, with the built-in Ethernet Webhost.

    Consistent, High-Quality Prints

The Promega was built to last. The all-metal frame is just the beginning. Mechanically, the Z-platform runs extremely smooth, resulting in no print wobbles. A 32-bit processor, Nema 17 motors, CoreXY motion system and auto-bed leveling using an infrared level sensor means the Promega can power through prints of even the toughest models with ease and refinement.

    Energy Cost Savings

Get control, flexibility, high-quality prints and energy savings thanks to the Promega’s patent-pending dual-zone Ecoheat Heated Bed. Using Flareline technology, the glass heated bed gives even, distributed heat to the entire bed, at a fraction of the cost of comparable beds. Use the complete heated surface for large prints or, use just the inner heating core for smaller prints and save even more on energy costs (up to 83%!).

What is Flareline technology? Heat-conducting 'flarelines' run throughout the glass bed unit, distributing heat. The heat is evenly disbursed among the lines, with heat radiating between them as well, for consistent heating across the bed.
