Canadian firm Mosaic Manufacturing rose to prominence in the marketplace with the release of their groundbreaking 2014 Mosaic 3D printer, Palette. This accessory attaches to a fused deposition modeling 3D printer and enables printing in several colors and materials without modifying the extruder. Using a patent dubbed SEME (series enabled multi-material extrusion), Palette can mix numerous filaments simultaneously, exceeding one of the primary limitations of FDM 3D printing.
